I’d like to think that I’m an all-round generally nice person. But sometimes, I just can’t be nice. And when it comes to call center, I know how hard the job is, so I try and put in the effort to sound polite and nice. But sometimes, they just don’t appreciate the fact that I’m trying and I just want to crawl through the telephone and wring their neck. Or punch their lights out. Whichever is best.
For example, my parent’s brand new exercycle. We bought it nearly a month ago and we still can’t cycle it because the left pedal doesn’t screw in properly. We call the shop, blah blah and forward our problem to the manufacturer. The manufacturer call representative, a woman, called me on Thursday and told me that the pedal screws in anti-clockwise unlike the right pedal. I tried explaining it to her that my father and I have tried screwing it in BOTH ways and it’s just not going in, but she doesn’t listen. In the end, I told her that I’ll try again and if it doesn’t work, I’ll give her a call the next day. (I was rushing for my train.)
So I called that bitch back on Monday, explained to her that it’s not working. We’ve tried screwing in the pedal anti-clockwise and trying to get the pedal arm out(the shop said to do that). And you know what that bitch said to me? “You’re not doing it right!” At that point, I couldn’t be bothered being nice.
I said back to her in nice precise, clipped tone, “Look, we’ve tried everything. We bought the exercycle a month ago and we STILL can’t pedal it. I do not want to tinker around with it anymore in case it breaks and you’re going to charge me. So I would like if you could just send the specialist in, and fix it.”
The specialist came yesterday morning. It’s still not fixed because he doesn’t have the necessary parts. It better be fixed by the end of fucking October.
