I just bought myself a gold ring. Oh my god. A. Gold. Ring. Real. Gold. Ring.
I just had my first pay and borrowing a tradition from a friend where you buy something memorable for your first pay, I was tossing up between getting a custom bra or jewelery. Don’t know how I drifted towards jewelery. Then going with the jewelery option, I was undecided between an ID cuban chain link bracelet or a ring.
My mother and I went to Michael Hill yesterday just to get an idea of what sort of rings I like and not like. The guy looked a bit sleazy in my opinion (but then again, what jewelery sales person are not sleazy?) but I tried on a lot of rings. I really liked a gold ring with the diamonds embedded in the ring. That sales person was already pushing the different ring sizes on to my finger, getting out the log book and all that and I’m like “Dude, we’re just looking.”
So, today, we went to another side of town which has both Michael Hill and Pascoes. The Michael Hill store was doing the whole “we’re so 133t, we need the bodyguard to herd the customers into a single file like a herd of animals”. So I told my mother since Michael Hill is doing something like this, I’m not going in. I’m a customer wanting to buy jewelery, not some fucking barn animal being lead into a single file by a bodyguard.
Walked into Pascoes…came out with a receipt for a gold ring. The Pascoes sales person was giving us a whole lot of important information while Michael Hill were just “buy buy buy”. Next time, I’m going to Pascoes first. It was actually a fun experience buying my first real piece of jewelery. My mother and the sales assistant really liked a white gold ring with three diamonds placed slightly higher than the ring. I was really ‘iffy’ on the diamonds placed higher. I wanted them IN the ring but the sales assistant said that if I get them resized, the pattern will go out of shape so it’s best if I went for something like a princess style or a solitaire set because my finger is tiny.
The sales assistant saw how much I really wanted the diamonds embedded that she finally said, “Perhaps since you like it not so much ‘off the ground’ (diamond placed higher than ring), would you like to try on the plain gold bands?” Me = “YES.” She explained that these were not on display because they’re plain gold bands made mainly for wedding rings. But all I heard was the rings calling my name. I nearly bought a ring which was quite rounded before I cast my eyes on to the shelf again and tried a “flatter” ring on. Mother thought that the flatter one looked better.
So now, I’m a proud owner of a plain gold ring band, mainly for wedding rings, 9ct gold. I wanted a higher content of gold but 9ct was the highest they had. Pictures when my re-sized ring arrives.
I’m so excited~~~!
Oh yeah, tips when buying ring:
Gosh, I’ve been meaning to post this but have been partly extremely lazy. So, this is the second part of the things I ordered online during my study break. I’ll say that I’m very happy with this lot compared to the previous one where the pocket mirror was slightly disappointing.
There still the custom wallet but I’ll talk about it later because it deserves it’s own little section. ?
So, first and second picture [half of it] is of the four keychains I ordered on Livejournal[taconaco]. I got Harry Potter, Kakashi [Naruto], ???[Death Note] and ???[Yami no Matsuei]. They are adorable hehehhheee…*hem hem*.
The other half of the second picture and third picture is a lot of four pie-shaped keychains ordered from Etsy[skookyspry]. These are as cute as they look, even cuter actually! I’m really happy I got them. It was buy one get one free thus, I have four.
The fourth picture is of a set of 12 mind-teaser games. I love these sort of things. I suck at word-games, mind-teaser word games and all thsoe, but these sort of objects games, I’m totally in. (As you can see in the picture, it shows one of the completed mind-teaser games. [Second column, middle row, metal balls in a circle])
Now, onto my custom clutch wallet…thing. It really is as awesome as it looks by the way! XD By the way, made by Etsy[thelaughinghouse]. I really recommend them as they did it exactly as I said I want it done.
The first image just shows the overall “look” of the wallet. The fabric is Amy Butler’s “Kashmir in Olive”. It’s fantastic, right?! OK, the nitty gritty of it.
The original wallet was the wallet itself without the strap. I specified how I wanted the strap, which they did it perfectly well.
As you can see from the second picture, it’s a single strap “crossing” over the wallet. Second and third picture shows how the strap is attached. One side is permanently stitched on, the other side has a snap-button clasp.
Fourth picture shows there’s a secret snap-button clasp as well to attach the zipper(yes, underneath the zipper is a snap-button clasp) when using the wallet like shown in the first picture.
Last picture just displays the junk I can fit in it.
Again, pardon the LQ images. My webcam may be tiny and cheap($12), but it does it’s job well. *pets webcam* The lightning is also crap because it was either no lights(thus, black) or light. Dinner time now, au revoir for now.
So, I heard that Dreamwidth is the new craze on LJ. Being me, I couldn’t stay away from this new craze and just had to try it out. In fact, I’m creating a few accounts because…well, because I can. And also to book the names. I know, it sucks. Get over it, kids. The Fulcrum has done it, why not me?
But it’s more likely that I’ve become a little bit more desperate in my search to find a free blog/journal provider where I can cross-post all of Teacup’s entries to. If Dreamwidth can make it, then I’ll have to put in a lot more thought into it now, wouldn’t I?
Of course, I just had to check out Encyclopedia Dramatica regarding Dreamwidth first. It helps put things into perspective for me. Their summation of Dreamwidth is right along with my initial thoughts. We’ve been there, we’ve done it. But don’t worry, I still have a small flicker of hope that perhaps Dreamwidth can make it.
In other news, my custom wallet has finally been made and is being shipped over here as I’m typing this. The time it took for it to be made surpasses my expectations. I estimated at least a week. They did it in slightly under a week. I’ve seen a few sneak previews at it and it’s looking fantastic. Can’t wait to have it!
I receive a package of ~goodies~ two days ago containing cute goodies that I ordered approximately two weeks ago from Phoophie. Pardon the LQ picture. It’s from my $12 webcam. XD
The first picture is the three items that I actually bought. A pencil case, mechanical pencil and a stamping…thing. The other four picture contains items that was in the $10 Grab Bag. And half the items in the grab bag were totally alien to me.
OK so, the second picture shows a nursery deco tape and a lunch box plastic partition. Third picture shows a milk carton Iwako(?) eraser and a stamping holder thing. That stamping thing took me a while to figure out what it actually was. I thought it was some mechanical pencil thing or one of those japanese eraser holder thing. But now I know. And realized that I have no use for it…moving on. Fourth picture shows a memo pad that contains two cute paper styles featuring Doraemon I think, and a pack of pencil cap. Yup, a pack of pencil cap. Again, didn’t realize what it actually was until it just…hit me. Pencil cap. Last picture, easy one, a panda sticker pack. The stickers are actually raised so it’ll be kind of hard to randomly stick it in my books…
Oh yeah, the Maluhia pocket mirror.
To be honest, I was actually quite dissapointed in the product. I don’t know how to describe it. Here’s the listing that I bought. This is probably the second time that I’m dissapointed in a product that I ordered online. I left a positive feedback for them because I don’t think it’s their fault my satisfaction level on this product is low. Maybe it’s the price. It did bug me a bit originally. I paid USD$8 which is approximately NZD$13. I just can’t justify my feelings about this product. At the end of the day, I’m not happy I got it. And the seller still hasn’t given me my feedback yet. Hmm.
Still have another two packages in transit to me and another custom wallet still being made in Singapore, not in transit yet. But soon will be, hehehe…
Let’s hope the next few packages won’t be as dissapointing as the pocket mirror.
