I’ve just upgraded to WordPress 3.0 and it takes some getting used to what with the very light gray of the whole administration layout scheme in comparison to the previous darker colored scheme. I actually wish that dark-colored scheme had stayed. Or at least give me an option to choose it…

It’s been about two and half weeks since first trimester ended and I still haven’t sat my first exam. It really is a drag when ¾ of the student population have finished all their exams, and then there’s me who hasn’t even sat one yet. Well, my first one is this coming Friday. I’m going to fail that one. I know it. Fuck.

The next and last(!) exam will be Chemistry on the coming Tuesday. I’m…unsure about that one. I’ve told everyone, and myself, a million times that I intend to just pass that paper. I hate Chemistry but it’s required, so I’m just going to pass it. I’ll be glad if I actually pass it though…

The Saturday straight after my last exam, I’ll be going on a little vacation with two of my friends for four days. It’ll be interesting, me thinks. Not stating where I’m going cause I’m paranoid about my privacy but I’ve never been to this city, hell, I’ve never been to 95% of this whole country (New Zealand). I’ve told my friends that it’ll be a first for me to visit this city, so excited!

I’ve been planning a Teacup 2.0 for the past few months now but I haven’t been happy with where the design ended up. I must have thrashed at least three designs. And I don’t know if other people follow this rule (highly unlikely), any designs that I thrashed are archived. Never to be used. Ever. Again. It feels…dirty to recycle layouts.

Did I mention I’m currently in my mid-term break? Or more like, nearing the end of my two short weeks of break from the killer otherwise known as university. This two short weeks of break…known as a “mid-term break”. My ass. It was OK…as with the other 99.999% of the student population, “I had this grand plan to study over the break! I really did! But the holiday just simply flew by and I still got my work to do…my procrastination is killing me…” Yep, sounds like me as well.

There was a supposed plan to meet up for dinner with a couple of friends. It’s supposedly happening in 24 hours from now and I still have no idea what time we’re meeting or if it’s actually happening. Doesn’t help that I feel it’s a drag as well…I want to be excited for it, but I just can’t muster the energy. I think I spent all that energy in my work environment.

All I feel right now is this…bone-dead tiredness. I want it to go away, especially since university starts back up next week and my first class is a Chemistry class on 9AM on a [censored] Monday. I hate Chemistry…

Totally change of subject but…you know, I never figured out how some people can develop crushes on a fictional character. Like…say for example, a video game character. Until now.

I was all cruisy-wuizy playing Apollo Justice – Ace Attorney…successfully getting past case one (with the help of a walkthrough, obviously.). Come case number two…and we meet Klavier Gavin. And I’m seriously (♥_♥) at him. Argh! I want it to stop…but I can’t he’s too good looking for a stupid video game character.

And not only is he good looking, he’s fucking hot in court! (That did not just rhyme…) And the person who voiced him for the US version, he sounds hot. I mean, the whole time I was playing case two, I’m sitting there waiting for him to yell “Objection!” I feel like I’m back in college developing crushes at the most minor things.

I don’t know what it is about Klavier Gavin’s character design, but it’s just so appealing. He looks cool, he looks hot, he sounds hot…*melts into a puddle of goo*

— Sorry, it seems the blogger is not in the proper capacity to continue this post. Let’s hope she will be back to her normal human form by the next post. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures of her supposed video-game crush, cause I certainly will!

Objection!

Yeah, I’m just hot.

Wow, what a week! Not too sure if I blogged about it before but this week was my first week back at university. And who the hell invited the drama llama to the party?!

Right, I had my timetable all nice and tidy before university. I’ve arranged everything so that I qualified for student living allowance and loans from the government – really, the only qualification is that you have to be an equivalent full-time student to get the living allowance). In my second lecture (Introductory Biochemistry), I decided to pull out of that course and take an Information Systems to fill in that gap (so that I qualify as a full-time student). I heard a rumor that the IS course was fully booked, and the wait-list was huge, so I went and saw the course co-ordinator about this.

So here I am, in his office, hearing the rumor confirmation from his mouth, proceeded to plead with him that I really need this course, otherwise I’m thoroughly fucked by the government. Well, he held his ground.

After a lot of ‘this-is-the-end-of-the-world-for-me’ moments, I decided that I’ll not take the IS papers. In fact, I’m going to be a part-time student with only four papers this year. (Full time student must take a minimum of six, which I had originally.) The other paper which I dropped is a second year Psychology paper, which was a fill-in course as well.

Before Drama:

Introductory Biochemistry

Introductory Chemistry

Cell & Developmental Biology

Genetics

Chemistry Concepts

Abnormal Psychology

Total Cost: ~$5500 NZD

After Drama:

Introductory Chemistry

Cell & Developmental Biology

Genetics

Chemistry Concepts

Total Cost: ~$4300 NZD

With this, I’ll still get a loan, I just can’t get that weekly $160.24NZD from the government to sit in my bank and earn interest. I checked my student records just before 5PM today, Friday, and finally, finally, everything is done and proceeding to plan. Now I can give the green-light to the government to pay my loan.

It actually feels so…good now. I don’t feel that I might fail something, or I don’t have enough time to do things for my own self. There is no pressure. I’ve got time to dedicate to my studies, to my ~dream job~, to my own self. Perhaps this time, I’d finally get that elusive A for the first time since I’ve been at university.

OK, I don’t know whether I have whinged and whine (if I wasn’t whinging and whining, what else would I be doing?) before about me not finding the “suitable” LJ account to cross-post my entries. It’s kinda worrisome that I might lose all my entries since Teacup started. But yesterday, inspiration struck! It was like…thunder crack. I’m not going to post the journal account until all my entries are cross-posted. I’m so excited that the account wasn’t taken.

In other news, remember the AshPink rant I made? Well, a whole month and nearly two weeks later on Twitter, we are told about free hosting until May 2010 for paid clients. Note we weren’t told what the fuck happened until somebody else asked what the fuck happened. Turns out the server was revoked. Great. So can I have my money back now since I only got nearly two months worth of my YEAR-LONG PAID plan? I still have the receipt.

On a lighter note (I want some sort of compensation APHost, damn it!), I finished all my exams just this Saturday gone by. This course, I just need to pass it. It’s so nerve-wrecking. I remember one question totally got me stumped. Something about skin lesions by Atherosclerosis, I think. Only this morning, the answer hit me. Something about fatty dots, fatty streaks, fatty pools and all that. Cue head/desk.

Will edit this post once all entries have been cross-posted successfully.

EDIT: I present to you, Boateng! Inspiration from the one and only Ozwald Boateng. ♥

This series of articles published on The New York Times online is something that I think everyone should read. This is one of the reasons why I know that I made the right choice when I quit my commerce degree and started this biomedical degree.

Mother of Nepal Vanquish a Killer of Children (Measles)
Rumor, Fear and Fatigue Hinder Final Push to End Polio
Dose of Tenacity Wears Down a Horrific Disease (Guinea Worm)
Preventable Disease Blinds Poor in Third World (Blinding Trachoma)
Beyond Swollen Limbs, a Disease’s Hidden Agony (Lymphatic Filariasis/Elephantiasis)

Just a side note, it is thought that the origins of this medical sign is based on the Guinea Worm. The Guinea Worm persists back from when Egyptians were building pyramids up until the current times. The Guinea Worm can be “helped” by curling the worm around a twig as it slowly comes out. This is something like what the medical sign looks like.

Going totally off-topic, if you’re a budding waiter/waitress, you might want to check out 100 things restaurant staffers should never do. Part 1, part 2. Of course, the writer can talk the talk, but can he walk the walk? In my opinion, I don’t think so.

Last class of university finished just under a week ago. It feels good because it’s over. Yay! ♥

It stinks because the finals are looming over me. However, I am living up to my name as Queen Procrastinator. So what have I been wasting my time on? Psypets!

I came across this site back in 2007 when I wanted to have a virtual pet but nothing like Neopets. I played Psypets for a year then I took a hiatus of it. In that time, I made a lot of money. If only I can convert it to real $$$…After a one-year hiatus, I’m back at it again. If any of you play, I’m Decimate.9 over there.

What else have I been wasting my time on…oh yeah. My final writing assignment. If I did not take this incredibly stupid writing course, I would have had zero assignments/essays this trimester. *whine whinge whine whinge* Hem hem. For this course, (I can’t even talk about this course without my blood boiling…) we have four essays to write. The first three are off my hands. The fourth one is set on the last week of the damn course and we have two weeks to complete it. Do you know what it’s on about? My freaking reflection on the writing course. Argh! Hear my screams of frustration!

You might think it’s easy. It’s not. They make it sound easy to trick people like me. At first I thought it was a personal opinion on what I thought about the course. Then the tutor tells me it’s actually what was taught in the course to attract more students doing it.

“… … … WTF?!?” *head/desk x4820375*

It’s only 700-900 words and I have completed it with 800+ words of bullshit. There, I finished it. Now they can’t say I didn’t do it.

Since the exercycle is finally fixed in my house, I’m off to cycle. Ta-ta.

This weekend was spectacularly productive in terms of university work. I completed three essays within a day. On top of that, I sent in a job application today. I’m pretty nervous about that one. I have applied for that same job before but got turned down in the second stage.

I’m in such a pensive mood right now. Then again, listening to Brian Adams – Everything I Do, at midnight, by yourself, on mild volume, does bring on this sort of feeling. My favorite part of this song is second part starting at approximately 4:03. It’s just so…awesome. And the words to the song is indescribable.

When you find me there you’ll search no more

Take me as I am – take my life
I would give it all – I would sacrifice

You can’t tell me it’s not worth trying for
I can’t help it – there’s nothing I want more

So I called up the Auckland University and Massey University requesting more information regarding the nursing program. Here’s a picture of both their prospectus on it.

It’s not too shabby. I mean, they did design it with the thought of “must lure students in” at the back of their mind. Massey went one step further than they have to by including a registration form booklet. Yes, pardon the mistake. It wasn’t a form or a couple of sheets. It’s a whole booklet. Take a look below.

I swear, the booklet is 25 pages minus front and back cover. But oh! Here’s a relief from writing on 25 pages straight. There’s four pages allocated for two character referee reports. I actually looked through the booklet twice to make sure it wasn’t a joke. It wasn’t. Damn. It’s going to be a mission just trying to fill out the application booklet. And two character referees?

They clearly state in the booklet that the referees should not be a close relative, close friends or flatmates. The referees should have known me for at least one year in the “capacity of employer, educator or personal character reference”. My current boss is an arse so he’s out the window. I’m not close to any of my educators cause frankly, I just want to ba– let’s not go down that road. So that option is out the window as well. That leaves…personal character reference. My question is, how does one qualify as a personal character reference in the first place?

Urgh. It’s so frustrating. Do you know the worst part? I still haven’t made up my mind whether I want to do nursing or not. This indecisiveness of mine is the thing that is really pissing me off.

Also, I feel extremely lethargic again lately. I think my iron levels are low again. I just can’t pull myself up in the mornings, I don’t have the energy to stay awake during the day or to participate in any activities really. I’ll try taking those iron tablets again. Maybe it’ll cure this.

Do you know what I hate? Stupid lying fuckers that affect me. Especially other university students taking the same course as me.

University started this week and we’re supposed to be signing up for lab courses. I signed up for a lab stream at 11AM as my first choice. But I got allocated to another stream which is at a slightly shittier time. I won’t be so fucked if I was late at signing up. BUT I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST. My name was within the first ten boxes! And I see names much further down the list stating they have to have this stream as it’s their “only choice”. Only choice my ass. More like they were being late and lazy fuckers.

Another example, last term Biology equity tutorials. These were optional but “priority will be given to students who have not done Biology before or are struggling”. I fit BOTH criterias down to the T. My name was in the first half of the sign-up page. Did Not Get In. Yet I know that there were students who HAVE DONE Biology right up ’till college, gotten an excellent grade in the subject, who got in this equity tutorial. It’s just fucking bullshit. Priority? What priority.

These sort of thing pisses me off. Immensely. Maybe next time I’ll just be like them assholes and state it’s “my only choice”. Then maybe they’ll know how annoying it is…
